The Marine Science Center is staffed by professionals who love the environment and share the ideals of conservation through education. We have a compliment of paid staff members supported by a group of dedicated volunteers that share a passion for environmental education.

Meet Joanne Semmer Ms. Semmer is the President of the Ostego Bay Foundation Inc. and the Ostego Bay Oil Spill Co-Op. Instructor for the Florida Master Naturalist Class, Chairman of the FMB Mosquito Control District and local historian.

Cathy Johnson, Director of Life Sciences

Meet Cathy

With a Bachelor in Science Degree in Marine Biology from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington and a Associate in Applied Sciences Degree in Marine Technoolgy from Cape Fear Community College, she brings extraordinary focus on Life Sciences. She shares her knowledge instructing both interns and volunteers facilitating learning objectives.
